Experimental Teaching Center for Clinical Skills in the Second School of Clinical Medicine, Xi’an Jiaotong University

Clinical skills experimental teaching center (national clinical skills experimental teaching demonstration center), a functional department of clinical skills training and assessment in the hospital, is responsible for the reform and innovation of clinical skills experimental teaching, which is open to all levels of staff in the hospital and radiates to surrounding areas.

It is responsible for the clinical skill teaching and training to undergraduate, postgraduate, residents, and all the faculty and staff; multiples assessments based on objective structured clinical examination (OSCE); 13 courses for undergraduate in medical school and dental school.

The gross floor area of center is 2,000 square meters. The center is equipped with various teaching instruments and systems, including simulation teaching models represented by SimMan 3G, simbionix virtual training system for laparoscopy, gastroscope, bronchoscope, network teaching system for clinical thinking, and animal surgical experiments. The center includes training platforms for diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, endoscopy, nursing, first aid, clinical comprehensive skills, and objective structured clinical skills examination station (OSCE). The center also has studio for surgery broadcasting and central monitoring unit. In addition, the center builds a multidimensional, omnibearing and systematized teaching system for clinical skill training, which can serve to the hospital and meet all the demands from multiple department.

The center is focusing on the training and assessment of clinical skill and occupational quality by adhering to the features of consolidating foundation, widening caliber, emphasizing capability, advocating medical ethics, and mastering skill; and emphasizing the guiding principle of training clinical skill and innovative competence.
