Experts from Johns Hopkins Medical Center of the United States visited our hospital for academic exchange
Johns Hopkins Medical Center of the United States had a trip in the west of China from July 23 to 24, 2018, and visited the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University for relevant academic exchange.
Dr. Alexandra Valsamakis and Dr. Gang Zheng from Johns Hopkins Medical Center gave the academic lectures in the Department of Clinical Laboratory of our hospital. Firstly, Dr. Alexandra Valsamakis introduced the technology and process of HIV clinical testing in the United States and shared his experiences in HIV RNA detection. Secondly, Dr. Zheng gang popularized the application of second-generation sequencing in the diagnosis of tumor molecules. After the lecture, the experts visited the laboratory. Finally, the experts introduced the latest research progress of virus detection and tumor diagnosis in Johns Hopkins Medical Center, which promoted the academic exchange and development of excellent laboratories in the two countries.
Next, another academic meeting was held in the Department of Anesthesiology in our hospital. Professor Barodka gave a report titled “Prevention of Cardiac Surgery Associated Acute Kidney Injury”, and proposed the concept of goal-directed renal perfusion. Professor Barodka also visited the operating room where the heart surgery was being performed. Professor Jianrui Lv and professor Fang Li introduced the general procedures of anesthesia for the heart surgery in our hospital, and discussed the experienced summary of acute kidney injury in China and America. Professor Barodka also observed the puncture and nerve block of internal jugular vein in the Department of Anesthesiology.
Finally, Professor Charies Wiener, an expert from the ICU of Johns Hopkins Medical Center, visited the Department of Critical Care Medicine in our hospital. Professor Charies Wiener and professor Xiaochuang Wang respectively introduced the situation of the Department of Critical Care Medicine in their respective hospitals. And Professor Charies Wiener gave a lecture on the treatment of ARDS titled“Salvage therapy for ARDS”, which mainly focused on the treatment of neap tiphyra, low platform pressure, high PEEP and prone position. Furthermore, Professor Gang Wang, deputy director of ICU, reported the patient's case. And the two professors expressed their view points on the secondary infection of autoimmune diseases.
