Central Sterile Supply Department
CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department) is responsible for the recycling, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and distribution of all reusable medical devices and articles in the hospital. It is a logistics center for sterile supply of hospital, and also a key department of hospital infection prevention and control. The department now has 50 staff, including 1 deputy director nurse, 5 supervisor nurses, 8 nurse practitioners, 17 nurses and 19 technicians. It is a professional team with rigorousness, realisticness, dedication, unity, and vitality.
An overview of the department: The total construction area of the department is 1300m2, with reasonable layout: the working area adopts the mandatory channel; the flow of people and logistics are separated not crossed; two elevators labeled “polluted” and “clean” are set for polluted area and clean area respectively. It is well equipped with advanced equipment like two-door type automatic cleaning and disinfection machine, steam cleaner, frequency type ultrasonic cleaning machine, vacuum boiling type cleaning machine, multi-function manual cleaning workstations, high and low temperature drying cabinet, medical sealing machine, two-door type pulsation vacuum pressure steam sterilizer, hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilization, ethylene oxide sterilization, acid oxidation potential water machine, water processor, information management and traceability system. It provides a strong hardware guarantee for the cleaning and disinfection of our hospital. The department has established scientific and standardized operating procedures to ensure the timely, efficient and safe supply of sterile products, and to meet requirements of National Health and Family Planning Commission.
Service Quality: With the concept of fine management, the purpose of serving the clinical front-line, we take patient’s life as our priority, to protect patient’s health by the spirit of pioneering and aggressive. At present, we have achieved the centralized management of all the reusable instruments in the hospital, twice-a-day collection and delivery, strictly implementation of quality control, and having quality control meeting every week. Over past years, the qualified sterilization reached 100%, and the satisfaction degree of clinical service is also 100%.
Teaching and Research: We actively explore the teaching mode that adapts to the new sterilization supply specialty, including "service etiquette" into the teaching content, which is highly praised by the interns and students. With the teaching satisfaction reaching 100% for many times, we earned the honor of "excellent teaching department". We have welcomed visiting group from provincial and municipal infection control for many times, and have held professional academic conference 3 times, attracted nearly 1500 people. We have received well- known experts from Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong for academic exchange. In recent years, it has successively carried out two new technologies, receiving financial support from the academy, obtaining one national utility patent, and published over 20 professional academic papers.
