The profile of Emergency Department

Established in 1987, the emergency department is one of the earliest emergency departments in China, as well as QC Center of emergency medicine in Shaanxi province. Thanks to constant efforts and creations of several generations over 30 years, it has been increasingly expanding and growing. Now, there are 3 inpatient areas with 48 beds available for clinical teaching and 14 full-time teachers, 3 of them are professors, 6 are associate professors and 5 are lecturers. Respectively, 4 teachers and 9 teachers receive doctoral and master degrees, and one of them is doctoral supervisor and 5 of them are master supervisors.

Teaching Tasks

The department offers teaching programs including 5-year Program, 5+3 Integrated Program and Zonglian Experimental Class Program on Emergency & Disaster Medicine, as well as offering postgraduate and PhD education, resident physicians training, further education for visiting physicians and incubation of general practitioners.


Achievements

Its courses are voted as provincial Excellent Course and win second prize of XJU Teaching Achievements. In the recent two years, it has been committed to 2 educational reform projects launched by the hospital and university, publishing more than 4 relative papers and involving in or taking charge of many textbooks compilation.


Highlights

The bilingual, multi-media teaching method is applied into the theoretical courses, meanwhile, the department focuses on interaction in class, emergency mindset-based learning, PBL study and flipped classroom. MOOC on Emergency Medicine have been generated and will debut soon. In addition, regarding practice as fundamental, combining multi-dimensional medical records, the student-centered practice classes let students expose to real cases as much as possible.
