The Profile of Rehabilitation Medicine Department

Founded on December 6, 2017, Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the Second Clinical Medical School stems from the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the Medical School that was managed by Professor Lan Binshang. The department is increasingly mature throug constant contributions and creations. So far, it has built one inpatient areas with 36 beds available for clinical teaching and there are 10 full-time teachers (including 5 Doctors, 1 Doctor candidate, 1 post-doctor candidate and 3 Masters), 1 of which is professor, 2 are associate professors. The department has one doctoral supervisor and 2 master supervisor.

Teaching Tasks

The department offers teaching programs including 5-year Program, 5+3 Integrated Program, Zonglian Experimental Class Program and Educational Reform Class Program on Clinical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine, as well as offering postgraduate and PhD education, resident physicians training, further education for visiting physicians and incubation of general practitioners.

Achievements

The department has been offering doctoral and master degree programs and serving as training base of resident physician. The department director Professor Zhang Qiaojun is one of the backbone teachers, and he is wearing different hats such as the member of Resident Physician Training Committee of Rehabilitation Physicians Branch of CMDA, the member of Rehabilitation Medicine Experts Committee of the State Family Planning Commission and the team leader of Shaanxi Rehabilitation Medicine Resident Physician Training. He wins the second prize and third prize of Teaching Competition hosted by the XJU, taking charge of 2 educational reform projects launched by the hospital and engaging in a couple of educational reform projects launched by the university and the hospital, in addition, he has published 7 teaching papers and been awarded Excellent Master Supervisor and Excellent Teacher for many times. In 2017, Associate Professor Qiao Hongfei was awarded Excellent Instructor of Visiting Physician Training, delivering speeches in the Annual Physical Medicine Conference of CMA, the Annual Conference of Rehabilitation Branch of CMDA and the Conference on Education of Rehabilitation Medicine. Over the years, the department has been offering clinical teaching and practice for many medical colleges including Shaanxi university of Chinese medicine, Taian Medical College, Xi’an Energy Technology College, Baoji Vocational Technology College and Haitang College. The department regards combining theory with practice as its key teaching style, focusing on boosting the independent working ability of students, which brings the high employment rate and good reputation.

Highlights

The department is the destination of visiting physicians in Shaanxi Province, staying focus on combining the clinical skills with scientific research ability and exploring new teaching styles like scenario simulation. The department has set up the evaluation system of teaching quality that consists of student evaluation, peer review, teaching supervisor evaluation and education authority evaluation, encouraging to explore education regulation and to update content of courses and to improve teaching methods.
