Department of Pharmacy
The Department of Pharmacy of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University was established in 1938. It undertakes routine work such as drug procurement and supplement, drug quality management, drug dispensing, hospital preparation production, and pharmacy administration. The department also provides therapeutic drug monitoring, drug consultation service, clinical drug intervention and evaluation, drug adverse reaction monitoring and reporting, clinical pharmacy application and research, and other diversified clinical pharmacy services. In addition, our department also undertakes the teaching tasks of graduate students, undergraduates and interns. It is a comprehensive medical technology department that integrates clinical medicine, teaching, scientific research and management.
At present, the Pharmacy Department has outpatient pharmacy, emergency pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy, skin pharmacy, anesthesia pharmacy, drugstore, hospital preparation center, drug control center, clinical pharmacy. There are 94 pharmacists, including 7 chief pharmacists, 5 vice-chief pharmacists, and 32 pharmacists-in-charge.
Since the beginning of the new century, all the staff of the Pharmacy Department have worked together to obtain fruitful achievements under the leadership of hospital leaders and with the support of other departments of the hospital. We have developed a series of measures in the aspects of improving pharmaceutical service capabilities, deepening service connotation, improving medical quality, ensuring medical safety, and improving patient medical experience, and achieved significant improvement.
As the clinical pharmacist training base of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Clinical Pharmacist-Training Center of the Clinical Pharmacy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Pharmacy Department carried out various levels of continuing education training, and trained a large number of high-quality new forces for the hospital pharmacist team. Now, there are 7 training majors, including anti-infective drugs, cardiovascular medicine, gastroenterology, pain medication, pediatric medicine, anticoagulation, and general major, and have trained 5 batches of 51 clinical pharmacists from all over the country, and 15 pharmacists are being trained now. At the same time, as a teaching hospital, there is a clinical pharmacology teaching and research section and a well-equipped laboratory, which undertakes the teaching tasks of master students and undergraduates and research work of clinical pharmacy.
The Pharmacy Department is currently the member of the National Health and Family Planning Commission Antimicrobial Surveillance Network, China Antithrombotic Drug Therapy Alliance, Monitoring Center for Adverse Drug Reactions in Shaanxi Province, High Quality Service Hospital in Shaanxi Province. It has won the title of “Excellent Award for Pharmaceutical Affairs Management” of the China Hospital Association, “Advanced Hospital for Information Work” of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and the “Reassuring Pharmacy” of Shaanxi Province. The department staff presides 6 projects of the National Natural Science Fund, more than 20 scientific research projects at the provincial and municipal levels, and published more than 150 scientific papers.
Facing the future, the Pharmacy Department will continue adhering to the “patient-centered” service concept, and develop new pharmacy technologies and innovate service models to enhance the breadth and depth of services. At the same time, we will strengthen pharmacy administration, improve medical quality and ensure drug safety in order to play a greater role.
