The profile of Lemology Department
In 1962, the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJU created its lemology department that has become a large-scale diagnosis and treatment center targeted hepatopathy and other infectious diseases in domestic general hospitals after several generations of efforts and contributions. The department launched the master degree program in 1985 and doctorate degree program in 2007, in the same year, it established partnerships with Lemology & Immunology Department of Oxford and followed by Stanford University in 2010. The department has 3 inpatient areas with 100 beds available which can be applied to meet teaching needs (1:6). It has 4 professors, 7 associate professors, 5 lecturers and 2 teaching assistants, which meets the required student-teacher ratio of internship teaching(1:10). There are 6 teachers with bachelor degree, 5 with master degree and 7 with doctor degree, as well as 1 doctoral supervisor and 5 master’s supervisors.

Teaching Task
The department launched several teaching programs including 5-year program, 5+3 integrated program and Zonglian experimental class program of Lemology, offering postgraduate and PhD program in lemology, standard training of resident physicians, further education for physicians and general practitioners incubation.
Achievement
The department was awarded Excellent Internship & Teaching Unit 5 years in a row. In the past five years, it was committed to two educational reform projects launched by the university and the hospital, publishing 5 teaching papers. Professor Dang Shuangsuo is awarded Excellent Master’s Supervisor, and associate professors including Zhao Wenxue, Jia Xiaoli and Zhaisong and lecturers including Zhangxin, Wangyuan are voted as Excellent Teacher for many times, in addition, some associate professors including Guo Yonghong, Jiao Xiaoli and lecturer Zhangxin win Teaching Contest Prize by the university, particularly, Zhangxin wins the first prize in 2017 Teaching Contest hosted by the university and the second prize in 2018 English Teaching Contest hosted by the hospital.
Highlights
The teaching-management system is applied into internship students’ management process and boosted forward through both teacher management and student management. Internship students management involves entrance training, internship course management, final assessment(quantified average performance) and final evaluation and comments, and the department manages and improves teaching staff through qualification verification, teaching task, junior faculty training, random inspection by quality control group, rewards & punishment mechanism, review and rectification.
