The Department of General Medicine

Introduction

The Department of General Medicine of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'anJiaotongUniversity is a comprehensive subject which integrates clinical medicine, teaching and scientific research. Now the department has six doctors, including one attending physician and one chief physician who is also a master tutor. The department offers inpatient wards，general outpatient service and teaching outpatient service.

Responsibilities

The department is responsible for:

1. clinical medicine, teaching, scientific research and development of general practitioners;

2. the early diagnosis and treatment of the disease unable to be identified;

3. two-way referral of general medical diseases in our hospital and primary hospitals;

4. healthy management of chronic diseases in certain region;

5. health inspection and consultation;

6. other affairs related to general medicine.

Outpatient Clinics

The department also serves outpatients. The service include the following aspects.

1. Diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently-occurring diseases;

2. Diagnosis and treatment of patients who are unable to be identified health problems or diseases;

3. Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases involving multiple organs and systems;

4. Assessment and intervention of high risk factors of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases;

5. Routine health examination, health consultation and health assessment;

6. Regional management of chronic diseases and two-way referral of diseases with primary hospitals.

2.Early diagnosis and treatment of undifferentiated diseases dominated by symptomatology (e.g., fever, edema, emaciation, headache, chest pain, abdominal pain, etc.);

4. Comprehensive diagnosis and management of multiple system diseases (comorbidities);

Among these centers. three are the in the top 100 community service centers in China. As the practicing base of the community medical centers, the department has provided strong support and protection for general practitioners who will serve in the community.

The department is characterized by the overall, continuous and comprehensive "whole person" diagnosis and effective treatment of chronic diseases, common diseases and frequent diseases. Based on the abundant medical resources of Xi 'an JiaotongUniversity and keeping pace with international development of various specialties, the department integrates the multi-disciplinary technology to achieve the early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of common diseases. In addition, the department emphasizes the standardized management of chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and metabolic syndrome to provide patients with quality and healthy medical services under the guidance of the international advanced general medical service concept.
